The Voice of Ursula Has Passed Away


Emmy Award winning actress, Pat Carroll, voice of Ursula the villainous sea witch has passed away at 95 years old due to pneumonia.


Carroll was born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1927 and moved to Los Angeles at just 5 years old. In 1956 she won her first Emmy at the age 29 for “Caesar’s Hour” and was a regular on shows like, “The Danny Kaye Show,” and “The Carol Burnett Show.”


In 1989, she would voice one of the most beloved villains in Disney History, Ursula the sea witch in “The Little Mermaid.” Ursula’s over the top, larger than life (literally) attitude and voice make her a fan-favorite Disney villain.

At Disney Parks, you can find Ursula in the The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure ride which is one of the largest animatronics ever created by Walt Disney Imagineering. She stands 7 1/2 feet tall and 12 feet wide.
